The Head Lice Olive Oil Treatment – How To Effectively Destroy Lice, Safely And Naturally!

One of the most effective natural ways of getting rid of lice is with a head lice olive oil treatment. But before we get into all of that, let’s have a look at what we are dealing with.

If you find your child constantly scratching his or her head, the chances are they have got head lice. Those horrible little wingless parasites that only other people get have decided to take up residence in your children’s hair.

“Shock-Horror, how can this be?†you ask yourself. “My children aren’t dirty. I wash their hair regularly!â€

Unfortunately, just like many people you may be under the misconception that only people with bad hygiene get lice.

The problem with head lice is that they are not particularly choosey about who they decide to infest. They can’t fly and they don’t jump. They can however crawl. The way they move from person to person is either through direct contact or from a piece of clothing such as a hair tie or a hat.

So what can you do about getting rid of them?

There are lots of over the counter treatments you can get for treating head lice that have worked reasonably well over the years. But you must remember, these are all pesticides and are chemical based. These shampoos have become less effective due to the lice building up a resistance to the components in those products.

The more traditional and natural treatments still remain extremely effective.

Let me introduce you to the “Head Lice Olive Oil Treatmentâ€.

It’s understandable that you might be wondering if some of the natural treatments really do work but olive oil has been proven to work in getting rid of head lice.

A scientific study that was conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health showed when lice were submerged in olive oil for two hours they died of asphyxiation.

In order for this type of treatment to be effective it must be applied correctly. The secret is to completely coat the hair with the olive oil. Ideally you should divide the hair into small one inch sections and brush the oil through the hair. Once you are sure the hair is properly covered you should put a plastic wrap around the head being careful lot to let any air in.

You should leave the oil and the wrap to work for at least 2 hours. 3 hours would be ideal to make sure the lice die.

Finally you need to shampoo the hair and comb it through to remove all of the lice and nits.

To avoid a re-infestation you should repeat this process several times over 2 to 3 weeks to make sure all of the lice and nits have been completely removed.
