How to get rid of brown spots? I have Brown spots and freckles all over body. Please suggest effective home remedies.

The brown spots that you have are probably a result of some genetic trigger. If this is the case, then there you cannot eliminate them except with the use of skin whitening creams or laser surgery, done by a cosmetic surgeon. The other possibility is that you are experiencing a case of freckles. This is, however, only a valid conclusion if you are of Caucasian origin. Additionally, even after removing the spots using certain creams and laser treatment, when you expose your self to ultraviolet radiation from the sun, they will reappear. Therefore, the only way to rid you of freckles is to avoid the sun. This might seem a tedious task but the simplest way to do this is to wear clothes that cover you up and use a very powerful sunscreen. It also helps if you can remain indoors between noon and evening, when the sun is at its strongest.

The main reason for brown spots is usually a condition called liver spots. The reason for liver spots occurring is the natural process of skin aging due to exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. These usually appear on parts of the body and skin that have been subject most to the sun and appear as brown blemishes on the skin. They are quite harmless and do not have any secondary effect on the skin though aesthetically they are quite a challenge to cover up. Treating this condition either involves the use of bleaches like hydroquinone and Tretinoin, laser treatments that destroy the pigment creating melanocyte cells of the skin, and the use of a chemical peel, which uses an acid to burn the top layer of the skin off.

Some home remedies used to treat liver spots work by using the principle of bleaching. One of these is the use of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a natural bleaching agent and you can use this on your skin by following a simple procedure. Dice an onion finely and then squeeze the juice out from the diced pieces. Collect this juice and mix it with lemon juice from a freshly squeezed lemon. Apply this to the spotted areas and let it sit on your skin until it is absorbed completely. Then, wash it off and apply some vitamin E over the area. Vitamin E is usually available in the form of oil and you can use it on the skin as an ointment. Vitamin E has melanin reducing properties and is useful to ensure that the skin layers below are not blemished. You must also avoid exposure to the sun to avoid reactivating the spots.
