Age spots are actually a sign that the cells are full of the type of accumulated wastes that slowly destroyes the body’s cells. The buildup of waste within the age spot is known as lipofuscin accumulation, a byproduct of free radical damage in the skin cells. The greatest cause of age spots is from to much exposure to the sun. Other factors that can contribute to the development of age spots are:

  • Poor liver function
  • Lack of exercise
  • Poor diet
  • The ingestion of oxidized oils over time

The best way to get rid of age spots is still prevention! Keep in mind that all the factors listed above that cause age spots are preventable. The best way to avoid getting age spots in the future is to limit your sun exposure, clean your liver (keep reading below on how), exercise, eat healthy and avoid trans fats!

Treatment

Since sun exposure is the largest contributor to the cause of age spots then minimizing your exposure to the sun would be the best treatment. Eating a diet that is high in vegetable protein and that consists of 50% raw fruits and vegetables, plus fresh grains, cereals, seeds, nuts. It is also a good idea to avoid caffeine, sugar, saturated fat, and red meat. As with any health related issue, if you are a smoker, you are advise to try to quit smoking.
